On March 17, the beloved donut chain is handing out one free Original Glazed donut to anyone who shows up wearing green. Whether you walk in or hit the drive-thru, all you need is a pop of the lucky color to score a complimentary treat.
Win the ‘Pot of Gold’—free donuts for a year
Beyond the freebie, Krispy Kreme is randomly selecting lucky customers at participating locations to win its coveted Pot of Gold Pass.
This golden ticket grants winners one free dozen Original Glazed donuts every month from April 2025 through March 2026. Thousands of winners will be chosen nationwide, so if there was ever a time to make a donut run, this is it.
Four new festive flavors join the lineup
Alongside the freebies and giveaways, Krispy Kreme is launching the Taste O’Luck Collection, featuring four new St. Patrick’s Day donuts decked out in gold and green:
- Pot of Gold Donut – A glazed donut dipped in caramel icing, topped with caramel buttercream and gold coin glitter sprinkles.
- Over the Rainbow Donut – An unglazed donut filled with cake batter-flavored Kreme, covered in light green icing, and topped with rainbow sprinkles and a sugar rainbow piece.
- Choco-Shenanigans Donut – A white Kreme-filled donut, coated in chocolate icing, drizzled with green icing, and finished with gold glitter sprinkles.
- St. Patty’s Swirl Donut – A glazed donut dipped in white icing, swirled with green icing, and sprinkled with white and gold sanding sugar.
These limited-time donuts are available individually or in special holiday dozens at Krispy Kreme locations.

The return of the O’Riginal Glazed Donut
Krispy Kreme is also bringing back a fan favorite: the O’Riginal Glazed Donut.
This St. Patrick’s Day classic takes the brand’s signature glazed donut and turns it bright green for three days only, from March 15 to March 17. Available by the dozen or individually, it’s the perfect way to get in the holiday spirit—and yes, wearing green still gets you one for free.
Krispy Kreme’s sweet history of giveaways
This isn’t the first time Krispy Kreme has handed out a year’s worth of free donuts.
Earlier this year, an Alabama mom named Sha’nya Bennett gave birth to her son Dallas in a Krispy Kreme parking lot during a snowstorm. As a sweet reward, the company gifted the family free donuts for a year and even offered to host Dallas’ birthday parties until he turns 18.
