Daylight saving time is back to rob us of an hour of sleep, and 5-hour ENERGY has one message for everyone groggily reaching for their alarm clocks: challenge accepted.
To help Americans fight off the annual time-change slump, the company is launching 1-hour ENERGY, a tiny but mighty version of its iconic energy shot.
And because every great promotion needs a hype man, they’re bringing back the ultimate timekeeper himself—Flavor Flav—for a second year of caffeinated chaos.
A new shot to fight the lost hour
Research shows that 55% of Americans feel sluggish after Daylight Saving Time kicks in.
Rather than let the clocks win, 5-hour ENERGY is taking a bold approach: offering a 0.5-ounce, one-hour boost in its signature Grape flavor. It’s the brand’s smallest shot yet, designed specifically to combat that morning-after grogginess.
“The best things really do come in tiny packages,” said Jeff Sigouin, President and COO of Living Essentials, the parent company of 5-hour ENERGY.
And because no energy boost is complete without some flair, Flavor Flav is making sure everyone knows what time it is.
Flavor Flav hits NYC for a wake-up call
Flav, the rapper, reality TV legend, and longtime 5-hour ENERGY fan, is back for another year of daylight-saving antics. On Monday, March 10, he’ll be hitting the streets of New York City to hand out bottles of 1-hour ENERGY to unsuspecting (and probably very sleepy) commuters.
“Even ya boi gets tired from daylight saving time!” Flav said in a promo for the stunt. “I’m so hyped to help everyone keep their energy levels at a 10, even with one less hour in the day.”
Flav needs all the energy he can get
Flavor Flav isn’t just hyping up New Yorkers for daylight saving time—he’s been running on high-energy mode for months. The legendary hype man has been busy promoting Olympic athletes and college football while raising money for California wildfire relief.
At the Paris Olympics, he became Team USA’s official hype man, cheering on women’s water polo after personally sponsoring the team for five years. He even teamed up with Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian to help U.S. track and field athlete Veronica Fraley pay her rent so she could focus on competing.
Between hyping up sports teams, disaster relief efforts, and now sleep-deprived Americans, it’s safe to say Flav needs a few energy shots himself.
A daylight saving tradition in the making?
This is the second year that 5-hour ENERGY has teamed up with Flavor Flav for Daylight Saving Time, and at this point, it’s starting to feel like a tradition. While most of us just grumble about the lost hour, Flav is out here turning it into a celebration.
So if you’re struggling to wake up on March 10, keep an eye out—because Flavor Flav might just be around the corner, clock in hand, ready to wake you up.
